This entire renovation was inspired around the 3m yellowwood table that used to stand outside next to pool.
The first step was to enclose the back courtyard and turn it into an extension of the kitchen. By taking down 2 walls the kitchen gained space and became integrated with the TV room and new dining room. Unfortunately we couldn't get rid of the pillars so the island was designed around them.
When all the walls came down we had 4 different ceilings but by leveling the ceilings in the kitchen and installing new pressed metal ceilings in the kitchen and dining room we unified the two spaces. Hand blown glass pendants accentuate the height of the new dining room ceiling. The yellowwood table was sanded down and waxed to match the finish of the custom made French oak armoire and now proudly occupies its space in the new dining room. Frameless stacking glass doors open to the pool.
The owner’s many collections are incorporated in the design. Her collection of plates, hang in a cluster and makes a statement above the the kitchen entrance. A gallery wall in the TV room display her oil paintings next to her collection of Delft porcelain.
